Statement on the Deaths of three Haitian Women with Disabilities

In late March, three deaf Haitian women lost their lives in an alleged assassination. The event sent shockwaves across the Caribbean nation.

Handicap International stresses the need to protect the most vulnerable individuals, particularly people with disabilities, who may be more exposed to violence as a result of their disability. In Port-au-Prince, Handicap International’s team joined a demonstration in support of the victims, in coordination with its local partners.

Read more about these killings.

Handicap International has worked in Haiti since 2008 to improve the living conditions of people with disabilities, as well as their access to services and assistive devices such as artificial limbs and braces. The organization's emergency humanitarian relief effort after the 2010 earthquake lasted almost two years. The team’s efforts now focus on helping the country build the structures necessary to support and empower people with disabilities, and ensure their full inclusion in Haitian society, as well as disaster preparedness.

Hey there just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The text in your post seem to be running
off the screen in Opera. I’m not sure if this is a format issue or something to do with browser compatibility
but I figured I’d post to let you know. The design look great though!
Hope you get the issue resolved soon. Thanks
