Why did Handicap International intervene?

Handicap International is an international humanitarian organization which acts on the behalf of disabled people and vulnerable populations. HI carries out humanitarian aid work every time a population is affected by a conflict or a natural disaster. Since its creation, Handicap International has been involved in assisting displaced populations (Cambodia, Rwanda, the former Yugoslavia etc.). Since 1999 we have been specifically developing our response capacities in terms of assisting populations affected by natural disasters such as earthquakes, typhoons or floods.  HI has intervened following many disasters, notably in Nicaragua, El Salvador, Turkey, India, Algeria and Iran; we are currently working in Pakistan in the region hit by the earthquake on October 8th.
