Since its creation by volunteer doctors in 1982, Handicap International has been working with international solidarity volunteers in its programs abroad)and with voluntary workers in its international offices in carrying out its mission.

With more than 2000 people, including salaried staff, international volunteers, trainees and voluntary workers, on its teams in the international offices in France, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg,  the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States and overseas in the field offices, Handicap International aims to ensure that everyone is able contribute to the organization's work whilst developing his or her own career path.

Handicap International's internal policy is also designed to help promote the professional and social inclusion of people with disabilities. We recruit people with disabilities both in our international offices and in overseas program sites.

Different types of employment are available depending on the candidate's profile and career aspirations :

-        Voluntary workers undertake unpaid work from time to time in the international headquarters offices and in overseas programs,
-        Students looking for internships are contracted to work on projects related to their studies,
-        International solidarity volunteers are professionals who work full-time in an overseas program for specific time periods,
-        Salaried staff in the international offices and in our program locations who have decided to make a career in international humanitarian assistance.

Both in the field and at head office, Handicap International expects all those who work for it in whatever capacity to adhere to the organization's values.
