HI Condemns Bombing of MSF Hospital in Syria

On April 27, at least 14 people were killed in an airstrike on a hospital supported by Handicap International partner Médecins sans Frontières (Doctors without Borders) in Aleppo, Syria.

“This is a serious violation of international humanitarian law,” says Florence Daunis, Director of Operations at Handicap International. “This latest strike against a hospital reveals a total disregard for civilian lives. Handicap International is once again calling on all parties to the conflict in Syria to immediately refrain from launching air strikes against civilians. The organization is also demanding an investigation into these attacks. We would again like to express our support for the teams from Médecins sans Frontières.”

In February, two other Syrian medical facilities run by Médecins sans Frontières were targeted in air strikes, in Tafas and Marat al-Numan, in which around a dozen people were killed. Large numbers of health centers and hospitals in Syria have been hit in air strikes since the beginning of the year.

I agree with Helen, it’s absolutely terrible. What can we do about it? Help other as much as we can.
