Funding

Independence to help the world's most vulnerable, the moment they need us

Essentials

Since our founding in 1982, generous, private donors have given Handicap International the autonomy to help more than 500,000 amputees.

These individual donors currently provide more than half of our funding. Monies from a range of institutions, including the United Nations, governments and foundations, make up the balance.

Handicap International U.S. raises money to support Handicap International Federation's work worldwide. Pooled with funds raised by the eight other national associations within the Handicap International Federation our staff are free from the financial or ideological policies of any one supporting institution. In 1997, we were a co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for our work in bringing about the Ottawa Mine Ban Treaty.

Our donors trust us to do the most we can for the vulnerable people who need our help. We honor that trust by providing transparent financial reporting, which we encourage you to review.

Donate today! Gifts to Handicap International save and improve lives in 63 countries.
